Advocacy Campaigns

As a Catholic education community, we need to work together to ensure that all of our schools receive fair funding so that Victorian Catholic schools can continue to meet the needs of all students.
Catholic schools already deliver more for students with less funding. CSPV understand it is critical that the Australian government meets the funding principles to ensure each Catholic school is able to provide an education for all.
CSPV has a clear role to play in providing parent perspective on matters relating to funding as Catholic school parents bear the cost of any government funding cuts to the Catholic sector.

Catholic school parents have most recently been called on to play a role in ensuring the needs of students in Catholic schools are fully understood. A strong CSPV presence and distinct parent voice in Catholic education is crucial in calling on public support from parents as the Federal government cuts funding to Catholic school systems.
CSPV members are able to help raise these issues with parents in schools, with Members of Parliament and community leaders to ensure they understand the importance of system based funding models and how they assist Catholic schools to provide an education for all students in communities across Victoria.
It is our expectation as the peak parent representative council that through fair and equitable funding, Catholic education is able to provide an affordable alternative choice of schooling for Catholic school parents.

Coalition government announces $200,000 grants fund for education for each electorate

In this year’s budget, the Coalition Government announced the establishment of a Local School Community Fund, which will provide $200,000 to each federal electorate to support priority projects in local schools that benefit students and their communities. Federal Minister for Education Dan Tehan said the Government would provide $30.2 million in 2019–20 to establish the fund, allowing schools to apply for grants up to $20,000. This is great news for Catholic schools throughout Victoria who can apply for the grants for their school.
